Day 12

About 52 this morning with the sun shining.

Hi All,

Today we head up the Columbia River Valley and then turn West into Cascade National Park. After going through the park we go on to Bellingham, WA. At that point we will have completed a 2000 mile loop and will be staying 25 miles North of where we were on our first night.

We are back on the road by 8am and we see this weird cloud that looks like a space ship.

We start up the valley and realize this is where Washington grows all of its apples. They sure know how to get the most out of what little space they have to grow them.

These are just youngsters about 3 feet tall

See how the trees fill out but never get much over 8 feet tall.

Once they start producing, look out, they are all over the place.

 IMG_2429.JPG

Because they know how to keep them from growing tall its easy picking.

IMG_2431.JPG

Its amazing how much these little trees can produce.

Next time you pick up an apple in the store and see it came from Washington I'll bet you will think of this.

Columbia River        See all the apple trees. This Valley is over 70 miles long. That's a lot of apples.

IMG_2439.JPG

What a beautiful valley and that river is crystal clear.

In remembrance of Chelan people who have occupied this area of the Columbia River for 8000 years.

IMG_2444.JPGIMG_2446.JPG

The ducks are all flocking getting ready to fly South.

IMG_2453.JPG

We find this suspension bridge crossing the river. I told Prilly to go ahead and I would be right behind.

IMG_2457.JPG

Where is this guy going?

IMG_2458.JPG

No wonder we can't find them in the woods, They are all moving to the burbs.

Look at the trees, that wind is brutal.
